Dr. Karam will first examine the lips to decide exactly how much lip tissue will need to be excised in order to create harmony and symmetry. He will view the lips in various positions, performing various tasks to get a clear understanding of the patient’s unique anatomy.

Next, Dr. Karam will discuss his findings with the client, answer questions in-depth, and work together to create an action plan for transformation. While he can and will make his recommendations, Dr. Karam recognizes that the final decision on how much lip volume to remove rests in the patient’s hands.

How is the Procedure Performed?

In general, clients undergo our San Diego lip reduction procedure while being sedated with local anesthesia. The total treatment time is approximately an hour and a half, although this may vary depending on if other cosmetic procedures are being performed in tandem.

Dr. Karam will first make an incision within the inside of the lip, ensuring all scarring is inconspicuous and hidden from view. He will then excise a previously agreed-upon amount of lip tissue, suturing the wounds with dissolvable stitches.

Recovery
